This is the story of 15 distressed and poor families residing in Chora, Ausgram, of Purba Bardhaman district in West Bengal. These families, live below the poverty line, reside in huts that are primarily made of materials like husk, canister, asbestos, mud , and in some cases, even plastic.
The monsoon season in West Bengal can be relentless, and this year was no different. Torrential rains have been particularly harsh on these fragile structures, causing leaks and collapsed roofs in numerous places. For those living in these houses, the yearly rains that should bring relief from the heat are instead a source of distress and disaster. Many are forced to endure wet interiors, dampness, and associated health risks that arise from living in such squalid conditions.
Local social workers reached out to Dharmansh USA for assistance .
Repairing these houses was of paramount importance to ensure the well-being and safety of these families during and after the rainy season.
After appropriate vetting, Dharmansh USA provided the financial support to rebuild the houses for the 15 families.
