Hindu
festivals are exuberant expressions of our ancient culture with a definite
influence on the identity of the local, indigenous peoples and even places
across India. They provide a sense of collective belonging which, in turn,
leads to common cultural practices and shared histories. Hindu festivals, most
of them celebrated since time immemorial, continue to energize communities to
come together, pray, eat, sing and dance in a unique expression of joy and
devotion. Their role in keeping alive Dharma in the minds of a billion-plus
souls cannot be overstated. For any average Hindu, his/her cultural identity is
rooted in our festivals. Plus, the sheer diversity of rituals and practices in
Hindu festivals is mind-boggling.
In spite of thousands of foreign invasions that destroyed several thousand temples across Bharat, in spite of millions of Hindus killed
over last two millennia in the name of religion and in spite of relentless
organized attempts to convert gullible Hindus into other faiths, Hindu
civilization continues to survive. In fact, Hinduism is the only surviving remnant
of ancient world civilizations.
Hindu survival over time is
inextricably linked to Hindu festivals. Hinduism, as a religion, is not rooted
in imposed oddities on groups and individuals. The expression of oneness among
Hindus of all hues happens through festivals. The collective joy and the
invisible spiritual vibrations of festivals bring us together, lift our Dharmic
strength, gave us infinite resilience to survive invasions, genocides and the
most brutal persecutions. Numerous tyrants have come and gone, but none of them
have been able to decapitate the spirit of festivals in Bharat.
Dharmic festivals are the
keystones of Hindu Samaj!
There is a two-thousand-year continuity in the thought process on how to eradicate Hinduism and Hindus from the
face of the earth and the purveyors of such ideologies have never stopped
trying.
Attack Hindu festivals which bring to life their universe-embracing, spiritual and peaceful way of life. Leave them with nothing to draw joy and unity from! For that to happen, as we can easily notice, this is what is being done:
Hindu society needs to understand this existential threat to our culture, come together and take corrective action, Every Hindu must celebrate every local,Hindu festival with full enthusiasm. We must pass this civilizational torch to our children so that succeeding generations of Hindus will celebrate the richness of Hindu civilization and the beauty of Sanatana Dharma.
So, how do we stem the tide and empower the indigenous people to take charge and save our Festivals?
