Satabhaya, a coastal area in Kendrapara district of Odisha, India, was once a cluster of seven villages that have been swallowed by the sea due to coastal erosion and a series of cyclones.

The villages have disappeared due to coastal erosion, with the sea claiming homes, farmland, and even schools and temples. Rising sea levels and increased frequency of cyclones and storm surges have caused displacement of people in Satabhaya. Many residents have been forced to leave their homes and livelihoods, leaving their cattle behind while trying to find a place to resettle in areas like Bagapatia among other places.

Around 600 houses and a 125-year old high school and many temples were lost forever when the sea swallowed these villages just as the sea had claimed Dwarika in Mahabharata timeframe after Shri Krishna's departure.

State government created a rehabilitation coloney where some villagers found a temporary refuse. However, they had to leave their cattle behind causing this disaster where several thousands of cows and other cattle were left to die without food or drinkable water surrounded by sea.

These unfortunate cows are spread unattended across a 20-25 kilometer stretch of area surrounded by sea and forest, full of crocodiles and other predators.

The most concerning aspect of this tragedy is that cow-smugglers are on the scene. These poor creatures are being caught at will every day. Some are smuggled out of the country for slaughter. Worse still, some are chased and brutally killed in broad daylight . After taking what is sellable on the meat market , the rest is dumped. Crocodiles are also seen attacking these hapless animals.

We have commited to enable Gau-Sevakas (aka Cow Protectors) in Odisha to SAVE these cows and RESCUE them, and to REHABILITATE them.

Dharmansh USA has decided to help these cows fighting with death everyday survive with every available resource we have.

Our Goal is to Rescue and Rehabilitate Them In Safe and Secure Gaushala
(Cow Rehabilitation Center)

Govt of Odisha has kindly agreed and allowed local volunteers (Gau Sevakas) to enter the forest/beach area and feed and protect these cows until they process the formalities to allow rescue operations sometime in the month of April(rough estimate). A major rescue operation will be conducted to extract them from this dangerous zone and place them in a secure location once our volunteers get permission from the Govt.

For the purpose of providing a safe haven for these cows, and other abandoned cows that are being rescued from many other locations in Odisha, we have secured a five acre tract of land in Jagatsinghpur, Odisha. As we speak, we are in process of building boundary wall for this property. The entire community in Jagatsinghpur is excited about this project and are ready to provide labor and services. This area will have their first Gaushala where rescued Gau Matas will safely live and bless the people of the surrounding region.

Building a Gaushala is a huge undertaking and a lot of expenses are being met by the local Hindu community. However , the wider Hindu Samaj has to pitch in with financial assistance. In addition to building a boundary wall, we need to install water pumps and build weather-proof shades to make the property habitable for the cows and to keep them healthy.

Time is of the essence in this project. Cows are dying everyday without proper care.
